Science on Screen: Where Film Sparks Intellectual Conversations
Using film to inspire thought-provoking conversations that educate and entertain adult audiences, Science on Screen returns to Discovery Place Science in 2024.
The setting is an intimate gathering in Discovery Theatre* where experts take the stage to lead a 20-minute discussion followed by a popular film screening.
*Science on Screen occurs in Discovery Theatre, not the Accenture IMAX Dome Theatre. Concessions will be available for purchase.

May 10 – The Breakfast Club
This classic indie teen coming-of-age film, written and directed by John Hughes, will bring the awesome 80s back to Discovery Theatre following an in-depth conversation exploring relationship longevity and connection.
June 1 – Short Circuit
Before AI, there was Number 5. Short Circuit, released in 1986, tells the story of a military robot that is struck by lightning and gains human-like intelligence. Watch the film again and decide if technology is imitating life or life is imitating technology after an illuminating talk centered around all things AI.
