Swarm into Discovery Place Science over Spring Break for our first-ever Buzz-a-thon
Swarm the Museum all week for Spring Break

It’s Spring Break for many schools in the Charlotte area and Discovery Place Science is celebrating with its Buzz-a-thon event taking place April 13-20. Be sure to swarm the Museum all week for special insect-focused programming every hour on the hour.
Buzz-a-thon Programming
Monday through Saturday
10 a.m. (to 12 p.m.)
Spring Into Science: Spring is buzzing with exciting science and budding scientists under the age of 7 can explore an activity with a fun springtime twist. Takes place in KidScience, Level 1
11 a.m.
Meet a Bug: Get to know some of the Museum’s favorite bugs.
Bug Lifecycles: Learn to identify the various stages of a bug’s life. From egg to larva, from pupa to adult, every bug has an amazing journey. Takes place on Level 2
12 p.m.
Fruit Fly Genetics: Learn how scientists use fruit flies to study genetics. Takes place in Explore More Me lab, Level 2
1 p.m.
Bug Bistro: Think you’ve got what it takes to eat a bug? Bring your appetite and earn your “Certified Bug Eater” button while learning all about micro-livestock. Takes place on Level 2
Bee Boogie: Participants will model how honey bees communicate by working together to create a dance language to express where the facilitator has hidden. Takes place on Level 2
2 p.m.
Butterfly Masks: Cut out and color your own butterfly mask. Takes place in Explore More Collections lab, Level 1
Home Invaders: Take part in this game show about the bugs found in your home. Takes place at The Stage, Level 2
Armored Bug Build: Craft your own exoskeleton. Takes place in Think It Up, Level 3
3 p.m.
Jitterbugs: Build mini robotic bugs and watch them dance around. Takes place in Explore More Stuff lab, Level 2
Sunday
