Girls in STEM Summer Camps in Charlotte

The future of science is female! At Discovery Place Science in Uptown Charlotte, we are committed to closing the gender gap in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Our “Girls in STEM” summer camps are designed to inspire, empower, and celebrate the next generation of women innovators.

In these supportive, girls-focused sessions, campers don’t just learn about science—they see themselves as scientists. By connecting hands-on experiments with the stories of history-making women, we build the confidence your daughter needs to raise her hand, ask the tough questions, and lead the way.

2026 Girls in STEM Programs

Igniting passion and confidence in a collaborative environment.

1st & 2nd Grade (Ages 6-8)

Girls in STEM
Dates: June 22 – 26 | July 13 – 17 | August 3 – 7
The Experience: Built to inspire! Campers will have their interests sparked by exploring various STEM topics through messy, creative, and hands-on projects.
Why it matters: Research shows that girls form their identity as “smart” or “good at science” early. We reinforce this identity by introducing them to role models—past and present women of STEM who have changed the world. From Marie Curie to Katherine Johnson, campers learn that they stand on the shoulders of giants.

3rd & 4th Grade (Ages 8-10)

Girls in STEM
Dates: July 20 – 24
The Experience: Taking it to the next level. As peer pressure grows, it is vital to keep girls engaged in science. This camp provides a safe space to dive deeper into engineering, coding, and chemistry without the fear of being overshadowed.
Why it matters: Campers work on collaborative projects that emphasize solving real-world problems. They will learn that STEM isn’t just about numbers—it’s about helping people and making a difference, a key motivator for many young girls in science.

Why a Girls-Only Camp?

Building Confidence
Studies show that in mixed-gender environments, boys often dominate hands-on activities. Our Girls in STEM camps ensure that every girl gets to hold the screwdriver, mix the chemicals, and code the robot.
Connection & Community
Your daughter will meet other girls who love what she loves. Whether it’s dinosaurs, space, or math, she will find a tribe of like-minded peers, fostering friendships that validate her interests.
Female Role Models
You can’t be what you can’t see. We highlight the achievements of female scientists, engineers, and mathematicians, proving that there is no limit to what a girl with a curious mind can achieve.
