The STEM Corp Apprenticeship is a volunteer-based opportunity offered to students 14-18 years old. This program provides students with hands-on experience volunteering in a museum while working side by side with museum professionals. Students will engage with our guests through STEM based experiential programs, lab activities and a variety of programs and activities.
 
New applicants must submit a completed application and 2 recommendation forms; without all three items, the application will not be accepted. After a completed application is received, we will send a confirmation email with next steps surrounding the interview process.  
 
Museum Operations Apprentice: Applicants must be 14-years-old by June 1. Will assist Operations Team with floor and exhibit support. Shift options are scheduled during museum operations.
 
·         Students will be required to serve 80 hours between May 31, 2025-September
 
·         Students are also required to attend a scheduled interview as well as Orientation and Training.
 
·         It is the responsibility of the Applicant to schedule their hours/weeks or service in advance, Youth Development does not schedule volunteer shifts for student Apprentices.

Applications will be available from now until March 31. The application closes at 11:59 p.m. on March 31.

Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted, no exceptions.
 
Apprenticeships are available at Discovery Place Science, and Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville or Rockingham. Please note not all opportunities are available at all locations.
 
Apprentice Interview Dates: You will be required to sit for an interview at the same location you wish to serve.
·         DP-Science Interview options will be April 3, 8, and 10 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
·         DPKids Huntersville Interview options will be April 29 and  from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
·         DPKids Rockingham Interview options will be April 22 and 24 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
